Non–profit websites serve a key role in helping organizations spread their mission and reach more people. Whether your non-profit needs a new page, or you are a web designer/developer, one of the best and most effective ways to kickstart the creative process is to look for good existing examples of what you’re trying to accomplish. You can look for other websites from organizations similar to yours to see what strategies and tools they’re using to reach the goals you want to reach.
When looking for a good example of a non-profit website, look for sites that display a clear mission, explain the values and goals of the organization, and provide easy ways for people to get involved or support the cause. Additionally, you should look for a site that has a clean, organized design, and is easy to navigate.
Here’s a list of 10 of the best non-profit websites we’ve drawn inspiration from in the last decade:
- Education Writers Association
- Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
- Flatbush Development Corporation
- World Wild Life
- Doctors Without Borders
- SSSEVA
- Riverstone NYC
- UNICEF
- Warrior Rising
- Bowen Theory Academy
1. Education Writers Association
Website designed and developed by We Are Immediate using WordPress.
The Education Writers Association (EWA) is a nonprofit organization that provides professional development, resources, and networking opportunities to more than 1,500 education journalists worldwide.
The biggest challenge is clearly the complexity of the content and its many sections, and the many divisions within each section. The fact that such an easy-to-navigate result was achieved is the main aspect to highlight. The website also includes several prominent and effective calls to action and makes it easy to Donate.
2. Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is a private charitable foundation founded by Bill and Melinda Gates. The foundation works to reduce extreme poverty and improve global health.
In this case, we find a very clean design with reasonable use of visual elements such as images and videos which depict the kind of people and places the Foundation aims to help. The calls to action are not as prominent as in many of the other websites, and reminders and examples of the impact of their work are found around every corner.
3. Flatbush Development Corporation
Website designed and developed by We Are Immediate using WordPress.
The Flatbush Development Corporation (FDC) is a non–profit organization that works to improve the quality of life in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York.
Here we find a design filled with visual elements, including images and videos of the many events they sponsor and organize, and their after-school programs. They also make a point to highlight the impact of their work in the Flatbush community. The clean and easy-to-navigate organization of their content and sections is another great aspect to take into account.
The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is an international non–governmental organization dedicated to the conservation of wildlife and natural habitats.
Another very clean design with many visual items (images), several very clear and prominent calls to action, a section highlighting their impact, and an easy-to-understand and navigate organization of their content and sections.
Doctors Without Borders is an international medical humanitarian organization that provides emergency medical aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters, and exclusion from healthcare.
This website has some of the most “aggressive” and prominent calls to action, due to the nature of their work. Their content is very well organized, which makes the navigation flow as it should, and the visual elements are also there, to help bring their stories to life.
For the first time in this list, we find here the option to see the exact same website but in a different language (French). This can be an extremely helpful thing to have on your website, depending on your demographic.
6. SSSEVA
Website designed and developed by We Are Immediate using WordPress.
Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia is a nonprofit organization that serves the elderly population in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia.
A clean design with an emphasis on easy-to-navigate content for their senior target demographic. The content and their many services are very well organized and are easy to find. The impact of their work also has a prominent spot on the Homepage. The calls to action are present, as usual and visible as ever.
7. Riverstone NY Senior Life Services
Website designed and developed by We Are Immediate using WordPress.
Riverstone Senior Life Services is a non–profit organization that offers a variety of services to seniors. These services include home care, meal delivery, transportation services, and social activities.
Very prominent visual elements (videos reappear), well-organized sections, their important services are highlighted and the calls to action are visible and effective. There are both an English Services section and a Spanish Services section. Outstanding.
8. UNICEF
UNICEF is a United Nations agency that works to promote and protect the rights of children around the world. It advocates for children‘s rights, provides emergency relief, and works to improve child health and education.
UNICEF’s website has a clean design, and several images to give more personality and definition to their content. The impact of their work has its own section, the calls to action are there, although not as prominent as one would have imagined, and their content (so much!) is organized as clearly as possible.
Again, the great inclusion of the option to see the website in several languages is there. High-quality addition.
Warrior Rising is a program created by the American Veterans Motorcycle Club (AVMC). The program is designed to help veterans, active duty service members, first responders and their families by providing them with the necessary resources and support they need to transition back into civilian life.
High-quality website. Every advice we could give and every rule we should follow, are all in there. Clean design √, well-organized sections √, videos and images to give life to the website √, prominent calls to action √, impact section √. They even have a great easy-to-use store!

The Bowen Theory Academy is a learning institution dedicated to furthering the understanding of the Bowen Theory. It is a private, non–profit educational organization located in Bethesda, Maryland.
Another excellent well-rounded website that uses every element the way it should. The different sections are well organized and all get their spot and chance to shine. The calls to action are visible and effective, the imagery contributes to the whole experience as well as the animated background. Their conference registration page is very well crafted and makes it easy for the users. Top-notch experience.
